Fighting Ignorance

Today I went to see a lecture by James Randi. James Randi offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The lecture was very informative and funny. There are so many people out there who believe in weird things. He told quite a bit about homeopathic medicines. He told a funny story that went something like this:

- 911
- Hello, I’ve taken a whole jar of sleeping pils
- (Operator chocked) Hold on sir and we’ll send an ambulance right away. What kind of pills were these?
- Homeopathic sleeping pills.
- (Operator is having a hard time from bursting out laughing). No reason to worry sir. Everything is going to be alright…

James reading on the back of the package of homeopathic medicines: “No side effects”. No shit brainiacs… better yet to write “No effects”.

And of course it did not come as a surprise that people who are skeptic to pseudo science and ignorance do not like George Bush. James Randy will not be alone to hope for the best this coming November…
